This is what we did. We went out and got the glade containers. Taped a broom handle to it. Put your dog on a leash when you take it out side. Move it underneath them when it pees. Then all you have to do is put the lid back on. Un do broom hanle.

It's usually quite simple to collect from a male - use a ladle and hover around until he starts to go, and then quickly hold the ladle underneath!! However, if push comes to shove, your vet may have to catheterise him to collect a sample. The problem with this is he may need to be put onto antibiotics in case of infection so it would be better if you can collect it yourself. I have to say it's normally the girls that cause problems LOL It might be that one of the vet.nurses can collect using a kidney dish, outside the office?

Try using a shallow pan and put it underneath but if it is a yorkie it may be too hard to get down there in time plus some dogs are skittish if you come near them while peeing. If you can't get the sample, fill the dog up with water and take them to the vet, they should be able to get one for you.

With a short dog, you need to use a really shallow, wide container. I would use a pan. If he squats, you'll need a narrower dish. Just make sure its a clean container with no dish soap residue or anything. Your vet can do it for you if you can't get a sample.

Uh..you mean Cushings?
Anyway,since it's a small dog,tape a *little*(CLEAN & DRY!) container to something like a yardstick-long & lightweight.
Yep,really;it works. Transfer speciman to (clean & dry) container WITH LID!!! Like a baby food jar. Refrigerate until you take it in,btw.
At least it's male....*really* difficult to slip that set-up under a female! LOL!!

Get a pan or something and follow him around.
It is not the easiest thing to get but you can do it.
Get something with a handle that you can stick under him and catch some unrine in.
Then put it into a bottle for transport to the vet.
good luck and happy catching.

Never heard of a urine sample before, but I have heard of a um, #2 sample. Ask them if that would be okay to get, much easier, lol.

My dog has had his back brokenand sometimes he has to have help going to the restroom. I have taken a warm wet paper towel and gently rubbed it on his parts, and then he will start to go. I hope that is helpful. or call the vet and get suggestions from them I am sure they can tell you.

Get a small pan and go outside with him. When he looks like he's about to go, try to sneak the pan under him. Good luck.
