All humans should be given equal treatment, discrimination against gays is a human rights abuse, certainly Amnesty International say that it is...no humans should be told they are worth less than others or treated as such.

RandyGE, since you asked, a rapist is a criminal..the law will deal with him in the criminal court..K, most likely he is straight and already has equal rights so what's your point.

psych0bug, as most pedophiles are straight they already do have equal rights, unfortunately they harm others so the criminal court must deal with them.

Keep fighting. In the end they will relent. The funny thing is that when they do, they'll never admit they were that stupid. I remember the same thing with desegregation, voting rights, "mixed": marriages, etc. Idiocy can be eroded.

And to peope like "skooter":
A couple of you brilliant folks seem to have uncovered something that will make you rich, famous and candidates for the Nobel Prize in Biology. Could you share with us how you found out we're "born straight?" It's not fair to keep such a scientific breakthrough all to yourself. (Wow, imagine that. Meeting such a genius right here on yahoo!! I feel so privileged.)

Perhaps if you spent less time whining, and more time doing something constructive about equal rights, we would all have them. Rights must be earned, in one way or another. Become militant, pro-active, contribute money to the causes, get out there and volunteer time..that is what is needed, not hollow questions that will do not good. Be an example of what a great person is..a doer, a thinker, a lover of mankind. All great people start somewhere, and doing is the best start I know of. The best to you, and I mean all that I have written.

I'm not telling you about my sex life. I'm homo. Perhaps posting the comment from pegacita was confusing. I'll take it off.

We're fighting for the rights to live our lives without being persecuted by a church. We live in a country that is supposed to have a separation of church and state.

Christians that oppose gays getting equal rights: back off and stop your whining. We don't want to come in your houses and have sex on your dining room floor. We don't want to "recruit" your kids to the "gay side". We want to live OUR lives the way WE want to in a FREE country without having to be berated by religious nuts and fruit cakes.

If you don't want to have gay sex, I'm not going to make you. So don't make me live my life with a woman, just because you have a problem with it. I have a problem with people who oppose equal rights. Give it 20 years or less, and you will be looked back on as the bigoted fools you are. Yeah, pretty sure that's you skooter.

Well, it's a good thing that Amnesty International controls our government then...oh wait, they don't. The Constitution does. All humans should not be given equal treatment. Should a rapist be treated the same as you or I? If so, why?

I have nothing against gays. But look at it from their point of view.
Should they give pedophiles special rights? And yes you are asking for special rights. And yes in the eyes of normal people, what you are asking for is no different, then what a pedophile wants. You may not agree but it is what they think.

I agree, everyone should have equal rights. It is true that it says in the bible that homosexuality is a sin. But if we look in Genesis Chapter 18 of the book, we see God about to destroy the evil twin cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. God sends two angels to warn the one godly family of the imminent demise of these cities, only to have the locals demand that these two angels, who appeared like men, come out so they could have sex with them. Of course this didn't please God very much. However, Lot, the father of this one so-called godly family, does an interesting thing. In chapter 19, verse 8, the Bible tells how Lot offered to give his virgin daughters to these men so that they might rape them instead. Is this how God wants us to protect ourselves from the "homosexual agenda," by offering to let them rape our virgin daughters? Fundamentalists think so. It's in the bible so they must believe it.

Well, guess what? Homosexuality is not a natural human tendency...God created us HETEROSEXUAL creatures, and homosexuals are violating that law. Since homosexuality is not a naturally-occuring, um...tendency...then it's no wonder you don't get equal rights. Try being straight once...then you won't be offended because you'll have your equal rights, hot shot.

Sincerely,
skooter

I'm not whining...I am a gay man 57 years old and not about to be discriminated against...we fought for marriage in Canada and won-- and we're still fighting...anyone who has experienced the coming out part of being gay knows how tough we can be.

Just wondering what you think about two brothers wanting to get married. Is that incest or discrimination? Kind of a moral question isn't it, even though its consensual. Society has set itself up boundaries what it considers "normal". Not just a religious decision.
