i am a 17yr old female, and i plan on joinging the national guard. i'm taking my asvab next week and i know for sure i'll get at least like a 75. i'm not worried about the health tests (blood, urinary, eye, etc.).

i am worried about the physical fitness test. what are the requirements? i'm not sure if i can run the mile in under 10.5 mins (i heard that is the time limit for my age/sex).

i am 5' 7.5" and 170lbs. is there hope? can the running test be waived if i do well on everything else? what are the exact requirements? is the running outdoors, on an inside treack, on a treadmill or what?

PLEASE ANSWER IF YOU CAN.

I WILL NOT GO TO BASIC UNTIL NEXT SUMMER. I THINK I HAVE TO PASS THE PHYSICAL FITNESS TEST IN LIKE 2 WEEKS, THOUGH.
WHICH WILL MEAN WITHOUT TRAINING.

You don't have to pass any type of PT test until you go to reception. You must pass all three events. If you fail an event, you will be placed in a physical fitness unit (commonly refered to as "fat camp") until you pass the PT test or until you get separated from the army. They whould have someone running the mile course at the minimum pace along side the testees.

Keep running and you'll do fine. I didn't think I would pass the two-mile by the end of basic, but I did it, so I know you can.

National Guard Requirements

The Army National Guard generally follows the same requirements as the Army. That said, below is a link to the Chattanooga Army National Guard Website PT requirements. You would be required to do 19 push-ups in 2 minutes, 53 sit-ups in 2 minutes, and run 2 miles in 18 minutes and 54 seconds. Keep in mind these are the minimum to pass. You will need to get better over time which should not be hard with the required PT you will be doing everyday. Your body will get used to it and get in better shape. You won't have to officially pass the test until you are about to graduate so that will give you several weeks to get in better shape.

Not sure exacly what George Bush has to do with this (response to 1st poster).

You might find better information on the National Guard's website: http://www.ngb.army.mil/default.aspx

Also, try asking a NG recruiter, I'm positive they'll give you the answers you need.

the time sounds about right (10.5 one mile). No you cannot get a wavier for the run. you will also have to pass the push-up and sit-up test, if nothings changed. i think its 3-5 good push-ups and 10-20 sit-ups. the test is done outside. if you are not leaving until next summer i would start getting fit now because basic training can be brutal for someone who is not athletic. Good look.

you will get plenty of training to pass the physical fitness test at basic training. dont worry about it.

the running test cannot be waived. for a male under 21, I think you have to do 2 miles in under 18 minutes. but you will get LOTS of practice. the test is usually on an outdoor track, and you will run with lots of people at once.

Why don't you talk to an NG recruiter or talk to other NG members about the PT/ Physical Requirements.

i am not satisfied what george bush has done. john kerry should have won, and al gore should have been the president. the reason why he didn't make it is because bush and his family cheated
