You are to be commended for asking for help in studying the Bible. It is a most difficult task to do by yourself. Are you familiar with the scriptures at Acts 8:26-40. This is a brief story about Philip during his travels where he hears an Ethiopian eunuch reading from Isaiah. Philip asks the eunuch if he understood what he was reading. The eunuch effectively said "How can I know without a teacher"

Today is no different than 2000 years ago when it comes to learning a new subject. When we begin to learn about something of interest to us we will usually go to the very best source we know. In studying the Bible of course the best place to go is the Bible itself. Since the Bible speaks to us in verbal pictures and examples and sometimes in what appears to be riddles, going to someone that knows the Bible and has a tremendous amount of help at that person’s disposal the suggestion to go to the website http://www.watchtower.org/ is a good one.

Why? If you look at all of the material available in the form of individual articles on different subjects you will begin to recognize that all of the information being explained is coming directly from the Bible.

I would suggest that you start your reading with the article
"Look! I Am Making All Things New" http://www.watchtower.org/library/lmn/article_01.htm

The next article I would look at would be "Does God Really Care About Us" http://www.watchtower.org/library/dg/article_01.htm

If after reading these articles you find that you are interested in what the Bible has to say and what is happening today from Bible prophecy then I would suggest you contact one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Most people know at least one. If not then you can request a visit from a Witness at this link: https://watch002.securesites.net/contact/submit.htm

The study of the Bible is one of the most difficult things you will ever undertake since everyone has a different opinion. The things you have to remember is are those opinions based on Bible teachings are they in harmony with the real reason for the Bible.

The Bible is a God's Word given to mankind for man's benefit.
It explains in graphic detail the history of the Israelites and their on again off again relationship with God. It continues in the New Testament about the life of Jesus and why he was sent to earth and why he was sacrificed for all of mankind. And it continues with lessons and examples of how we should lead our lives to benefit ourselves. It also ends with the book of Revelation and the narrative by John about the finial war of Armageddon and the 1000 year reign of Jesus as King of God's kingdom on earth.

Most importantly there are always lessons to be learned from each of the narratives. The most compelling ones being the WHY? of Gods creation, The reason for the need of the sanctification of God's Name, The reason for the ransom sacrifice of his son Jesus, The vindication of God's sovereignty and the outcome of the very first prophecy in the Bible at Genesis 3:14-15 "14 And Jehovah God proceeded to say to the serpent: “Because you have done this thing, you are the cursed one out of all the domestic animals and out of all the wild beasts of the field. Upon your belly you will go and dust is what you will eat all the days of your life. 15 And I shall put enmity between you and the woman and between your seed and her seed. He will bruise you in the head and you will bruise him in the heel.”

Interesting isn't it -- What does it mean? I will let you study to find out.

I am certain you will enjoy your study of the Bible. And do contact a Witness for some help. They have several Bible study guides that will help you to understand the truth of the Bible and why we should study the Bible daily.

I guess the only one I really learned about before I realized that being a henotheistic Eclectic was the thing for me was Wicca. That led to learning more about Paganism in general and about other specific Pagan religions like Santeria and Asatru. I then spread out to learn more about Hinduism and Buddhism. I felt I pretty much knew Christianity and Islam since I was raised Jewish and I had always had an interest in the many mythologies such as Greco-Roman, Egyptian, Norse, etc. so I knew those deities pretty well.

You will probably get several sites from this, but they are no different than the organizations posting the sites - based on their interpretation.
Do not take any one's word as truth, but compare the things people tell you with the Bible itself, then base your conclusions on scripture .
My email address is pmzenz@yahoo.com if you want to ask any specific questions. I will only give biblical answers, not my opinion.

Do not waste your time on watchtower site (Jehovah Witnesses).
Their beliefs are very deceitful. They claim that Jesus was an angel and not God. Their own translation of the Bible even contradicts this doctrine, even though they have tried to change it to fit their teachings.

The best way to study the bible is to read it yourself and form your own opinions....many parts of the bible have to be interpreted and not taken literally. Wouldn't it be better to come to your own conclusions? Then....if you want thoughts, opinions, and advice, go to a study group, or even post questions here... but make your own interpretations first.

jehovah's witnesses are not deceitful...i'm sure there is a congregation near your home. they would be glad to give you a bible study at your house if you'd like. And to the person that posted before me, all translations of the Bible are the same, only some Bibles say "lord" instead of "Jehovah". we change no part of the bible.
