My brother just put a bag of popcorn in the microwave and he did it right (right side up and everything) and it didn't pop. Well, it popped, but only like 4 kernals and the bag is very smushed and wrinkled and we don't know what happened! What do you think was wrong with it? He did everything right, it just didn't work. What happened?

Nope, it wasn't the microwave because we just popped another bag and it worked fine.

there is probably a small hole in the bag somewhere that you can't see or the popcorn is past its due date

I'm thinking that maybe it was a very old and cold bag of popcorn for the micro. Try again, with antoher bag,maybe a newer purchased one, and make sure it's not cold. Also, watch it, because some times when a bag of it is left in the micor for the full 5 minutes, the pop corn burns. It's done, when the popping slows down.

It depends on how old it is and the type of microwave you use, some need to be in there for longer then required.
