Vacuum the house. Sprinkle Twenty Mule Team Borax on the carpet. The borax in the product will kill the fleas in the house. Keep using it for several weeks. As the flea eggs hatch, the borax will kill them.
Get a good topical spot on for the dog. Frontline and Advantage work. I use Bio Spot. It is otc and works! I've used it for over 10 yrs.

Adams makes a Yard and kennel spray and one for the inside also. Treat all the carpets and wash all the bedding and anything the dogs gets on. Furniture beds all that stuff needs to be treated.
Dip the dog and apply a once a month flea and tick control.
I use Bio-Spot and have for about 10 years. No fleas and all the ticks are dead when I find them.
You may have to treat for few months as fleas are very hard to get rid of.
Good luck.

I don't know about outside, get a shallow bowl and fill it with soapy water and place it on the floor. Sit a lamp beside it or rig it to where it will suspend over the soapy water SAFELY. The fleas will jump at the light and get caught in the water. It's better if you do this at night, but you have to make sure the lamp isn't going to turn over into the water. If you have an inside dog, you may want to lock him in the bathroom or kennel while you do this.

use a good flea shampoo on the dog, use 7 dust powder on the yard, and use Iodized salt (table salt) on the house. Just sprinkle a whole box of it on the floors and leave overnight and then vacuum up the next day. Do all of the floors though.

Frontline... Keeps the fleas and ticks off, and since it's an oil based product, when your dog gets on the furniture and even walks/rolls around your house, he/she is transferring this through out your house, so it aids pretty well! Just keep it on for a month and re-apply! =+)

Put oregano and garlic powder in his food. He will have pizza breath, but its worth it. I have a feline rescue clinic and that is what i use for their fleas. It's a lot cheaper too.
