For me, this is a very serious question. I am seventeen yrs. old, and I have been diagnosed with Ashberger's Syndrome: an autism spectum mental disorder. I recieved my vaccinations when a lot of mercury was used as a preserative in them. The reason I ask this question is that this murcury has been linked to autism spectrum diseases. I want to know if the murcury has anything to do with my particular case, but I don't want to die to find out.

The fact of the matter is that any accurate determination as to whether or not mercury was relevant to an individual developing Asperger's or another variant of autism would have to have been done relatively soon after the event occured. No test done now could conclusively determine whether or not mercury would be implicated. There is no real reason to to worry about it now, though, is there? What good would it do you?

Is everyone just answering to get points or what. If you don't know anything, keep quiet.

Mercury was used in multi-dose vaccinations as a preservative. If you got your vaccines from single dose vials you probably didn't get any. If every vaccine that you every got was from a multi-dose then you could have been exposed to much more than the EPA would allow an adult to be exposed to. Blood test and hair test will probably not show an abnormally high level. The problem may have to do with the persons ability or lack of ability to expel the mercury. So it may already be absorbed into the tissue. Trying to remove mercury is EXTREMELY dangerous. It may not even be there, but if it is, getting it back into circulation can cause new problems. Chelation Therapy is still experimental and not safe. In our families case we have decided to wait until a safer method is developed before we even consider this. "Autism is a physical condition linked to abnormal biology and chemistry in the brain. The exact causes of these abnormalities remain unknown, but this is a very active area of research. There are probably a combination of factors that lead to autism. Genetic factors seem to be important....A number of other possible causes have been suspected, but not proven. They involve digestive tract changes, diet, mercury poisoning, vaccine sensitivity, and the body's inefficient use of vitamins and minerals."

None of this is proven though. I think you should speak with you doctor to find out more, but as this states above, nothing has been proven to be linked to causing autism.

The best thing you can probably do now is not worry where it came from, but what to do now, and how to move forward.

A lot of mercury has never been used as a preservative in vaccines. Sorry

i am surprised your doctor did not run tests to find out the cause of your illness or to determine what meds are best for you but if he didn't ask him to it should show up in a blood test or spinal fluid...good luck
