I love to see a man in the kilt. Think it very sexy. And yes of course I'm Scottish and female!

Since you are both Scottish and female, I'd advise against either a kilt or a suit. Have you considered a white dress?

Speaking personally again, when the kilt is done right, it looks great. When the kilt is done wrong, it looks crap. If your man is uncomfortable with it, don't make him do it. If he's never done it before, get some serious advice - and not from the kilt hire shop because they clearly do not care. Do not wear a bow tie with the kilt unless the wedding is in the evening. If you must wear a bow tie with the kilt (sigh) do not wear a high-collar shirt. They are for full-dress, formal occasions, medals and decorations to be worn, with a white tie, not black. And if he absolutely must wear a high collar shirt with a black tie, for the love of God, teach him how to tie a tie. Don't leave a clip-on on show. It's like advertising: "I'm too stupid to tie a bow.'' Don't let the hire shop sell you a travel rug to go over the shoulder. Don't let them sell you an open-neck shirt with laces in it. A shirt that closes with laces is appropriate only if you are wearing shoes that close with buttons. The top of the kilt socks (please, not white) should be one hand's breadth below the knee. Elastic flashes go inside the turn over out of sight (you think I'm kidding but I've seen it done) the hem of the kilt rests on the knee and skims the floor if you kneel down in it - no longer please. And the top of the sporran is one hands breadth beneath the belt buckle. The kilted equivalent of a morning dress suit is black Argyll jacket (not Prince Charlie) white shirt with cut away collar, no breast pocket and a dove-grey tie.

Is this your wedding? If so then ask him what he feels comfortable but also go along with the theme (how formal or informal)
If it is not your wedding then look at the invitation you can usually tell if it is informal. For the safe side nice pants and shirt with a tie would be good.

If you are just asking our opinion then I personally like the formal look. But kilts are really nice too. I'm not scottish but we love kilts!!

I love a man in a kilt. But I hate the Bonnie Prince Charlie outfit. Give me a man in a kilt, trainers and a rugby shirt any day. Yum!
For a wedding he could dress it up a bit with a Braveheart shirt. Anything but a bow tie, for chrissake

I love the full kilt outfits and would love it if all the men wore them at my wedding. But I have not even been able to persuade my father to wear one (although he is a Scot). Our piper will be wearing the full outfit though to pipe me into church and all our little page boys will be in full kilt outfits! Suits are dull by comparison - not nearly as good!

I think it depends on the wedding itself. Are you having a traditional scottish ceremony? If so, and your man is comfortable with it, then by all means go with the kilt!

I prefer to see the groom wearing a tux at the wedding. My son is getting married tomorrow. He sent me a picture of him in his tux and WOW he is sure handsome. I have never seen a guy in a kilt so I don't know how I would feel. I know my son that is getting married wants to get some bagpipes. He loves them!

If the men will go for it and it's your dream, definitely kilts. And have bagpipes playing, of course. I LOVE kilts and bagpipes!
