The reason why I ask is because you hear all these politicians saying that if we had a guest worker program, Mexicans could work for a few years then take their money back to Mexico. PROBLEM IS: if the majority of Mexican laborers are already planting roots here in the U.S., what makes our politicians think that under a new Guest Worker Program those same Mexicans would return home. Yes there are some advantages because most of the illegal residents will be able to come out of the shadows and have their wages taxed properly so that they can contribute to social services. And what happens when it's time for those one or two million "guest workers" to go back home? This part of the proposed immigration bill doesn't seem like it would work and before we know it we'll be back to square one.

The GUEST WORKER classification is an election-year ploy to appeal to 'Business' and Hispanic voters.

At first glance, it sounds like a good idea, but the REALITY of the situation would be that MORE illegal immigrants will come to this country in the hopes of there eventually being ANOTHER change in the laws to give a new round of people what would amount to 'amnesty'. This is EXACTLY what happened when Reagan attempted to address this same problem during his presidency; did illegal immigration stop after his so-called solution to the problem? No- because we are dealing with the SAME PROBLEM ALL OVER AGAIN.

And regarding the wages, the truth of the situation is that it WILL NOT result in "most of the illegal residents [coming] out of the shadows and have their wages taxed properly so that they can contribute to social services." When the next wave of illegal immigrants come, 'Business' will hire them at the lower wages that they are willing to accept due to their illegal status. This is the usual cycle and will always continue- UNLESS laws are passed that SEVERELY punish employers that hire illegal workers. 'Business' will fight such laws every step of the way.

And if illegal employment laws miraculously are passed- the American people will have a heart-attack when they see the added cost in goods & services in response to the increased cost of doing LEGAL business.

It amounts to amnesty!! If the senate bill passes the Americans will be getting screwed ROYALLY and this is what the illegal immigrants will get:

Current "Senate" Bill proposal:

1. grants amnesty to the MILLIONS of illegals already here!
2.grants amnesty to illegals FAMILYS,who live OUTSIDE the country
3.admits HUNDREDS of THOUSANDS of unskilled "guest workers",through a new "guest worker" program, with a direct path to permanent resident and citizenship!
4.admits 1.5 MILLION
agricultural "guest workers" with a direct path to citizenship!
5.increases the number of employment based, immigrants admitted to the U.S. each year,by 400%!!
6.gives the Dept.of Homeland Insecurity, the discretion to waive fines for employers who knowingly hire illegals!!
7.allows states to give ILLEGALS,in-state tuition benefits that they can DENY to citizens who live in other states!
8.requires consultation with the MEXICAN government, before we begin construction of a fence along OUR border!
9.creates new student visa programs, with direct path to citizenship!
10.allows ILLEGALS to claim Social Security benefits, for work performed ILLEGALLY!!!!
11. Adds a 10 year 'statute of limitations' to give amnesty to illegals coming in in the future if they provide documentation saying they were here for 10 years at any future point. (This to people who have been using false documents all along.)
12. Each of the guest workers in each of the 1.5 million person PER YEAR and 200,000 unskilled person PER YEAR program would, upon obtaining residency or citizenship be able to bring their families as well. This includes indigent parents at a time when we already don't know how we will fund old age requirements for the baby boomers.

I've read the questions they asked. Had I not actually read the Senate Bill and had I been asked those questions, I'd have ended up being counted as supporting Bush and the Senate in this. People only approve of the Senate Bill if they don't know what it says.

They are not looking out for legal American Citizens. They don't listen to us. They are listening to freeloading illegal immigrants. If enough of the voting legal population will get their heads out of their butts and let their senators and representatives know how they feel about this atrocity to the American people they just might start to listen to us.
The laws on illegal immigration are already on the books, they just need to ENFORCE THEM

If it was put together, it'd be just another poorly run, unaccountable beauracracy. Just like the current system allowing student visas and the like, the people there would stop following up on guest workers and then those Mexicans would be asking for amnesty in another 10 years.

i will imagine of alot of difficulty that i'd be prepared to do for $30/hr. and laying sod is one in all them. this is fairly alot more desirable than i'd get from taking an unemployment verify. i imagine what you're seeing is the liberal poultry come homestead to roost. they have been telling anybody that the authorities ought to shield you for the previous forty years and that is the outcome. human beings ought to particularly receives a fee a lot less for doing no longer something, than receives a fee fairly alot extra for some solid previous guide exertions. also, the estimates on the dimensions of the immigrant exertions stress that are doing jobs "that individuals received't do" is only a smidge over 5% of the paintings stress. i am going to %. up a 2d job at $30/hr if which will remove the unlawful extraterrestrial beings.

The guest worker program needs to benifit the mexicans in the country and deal with that situation but their really trying to trick you to bring in people from india to take hi tech jobs from americans and pay them half the wages of americans and the result is unemployed americans People from india will be taking your jobs not mexicans.

Secure the Borders first

Sort out the rest when we have time

This country was built by legal immigrants not illegal immigrants

Here is the deal.

Illegal immigrants ARE ALREADY here. We cannot prevent this, we don't have the resources, and even if we did, it's not financial beneficial to do so. But what we can do.. is get them on the books. That is priority number one. The second thing, is to coax them home, because we again dont' have the resources to take them all back in trucks every other week. The third thing, is to improve their quality of life because they are human beings and you have no idea the attrocities that happen to them on the way here and once they are in america.

1. So, the guest worker program, once it builds trust in the illegal immigrant community, will give financial incentives. They will be able to make minimum wage, they will be able to change jobs without being threatened by their imployers about INS, and they will be able to work reasonable hours in safer conditions. These are the reasons that they will be jumping at the chance to sign up for this, and it's not gonna FORCE them to go home right away any more than the current laws.

The benefit for this to us is that as semi-citizens, they pay taxes, which will be a huge boost to our economy, because they will first not be draining on our free medical care at emergency clinics, but also they will be contributing extra to our economy. Also, the crime rate will decrease because people take advantage of the fact that they can't call the cops and turn Illegal immigrant concentrated areas into warzones.

2. Coaxing them home. The financial benifets don't stop here. Remember mexico isn't a terrible place to live. It is a terrible place to be poor. The guest worker program provides a retirement for these people, in their native country, not here. They can save up some money and bring it back home with enough to start a small business, or buy some land, something to get them above the life they were leading that was so terrible that they were forced to leave everything that they ever knew to escape the hadship. Also, there will be huge tax breaks in their country to help them decide to come home. Basically, it would be more advantageous for them to go back to mexico being more skilled workers who can get better paying jobs or open their own businesses with huge tax breaks and a retirement plan (previously unheard of) than to keep working forever in america as a guest worker for a maximum of 6 years and then back to an illegal immigrant. (that doesn't help them or their families nearly as much.)

3. QUALITY OF LIFE
Illegal immigrants are raped, robbed, beaten, and left stranded in the desert by the people who promise that they will carry them accross to america in trucks. These desert coyotes are terrible and dangerous and no human being should have to subject themselves to this type of human trafficking. Think how bad it must be for them to take this risk.. and believe me they know the risk. With this program they can travel freely accross the border to bring food and money to their families who remain in mexico using a guest worker transportation card, eliminating the fear of horrendous actions mentioned above.

Also, finally they will be able to make use of our social services without fear of deportation, and why shouldn't they, for the time being they are paying taxes and earn them just as much as you do. So if there is a crime or a rape or a theft, they can call the cops, aswell as being rushed to the hospital.

All these things are very important, but you have to look at the simple benefits and not the morality of the situation to really see why america should do it.

America Positives
-Slow decline in total "guest workers" in the country after 3 yrs
-Guest workers PAY TAXES!
-Crime rates lower in places like San Diego
-Social services like healthcare and police aren't overtaxed paying for unearned services.

Mexico Positives
-Poverty rate decreases as more wealthy mexicans return home
-Retirement plans and tax cuts get the poor thinking about their future's instead of just the "now"
-Less mexican border enforcement will be required.

America Negatives
-Public support for the government goes down because ignorant people hate immigrants
-One more compication agency (but the taxes paid will much more than cover the cost of the program)
-Mexicans in mexico taken advantage of because they are following the rules

Mexico Negatives
-none

Ok.. to adress america's concerns.

-it costs nothing
-we get money
-lessens border control intensity and costs
-improves quality of life and america was founded on that right?
-crime rate decreases
-some of them go home(helps with overcrowding)
-others become citizens
-overall rate of undocumented citizens lowers
-once they are documented it's much easier to find them to export them after their stay in the program
-They get NO FAVOR in the standard CITIZENSHIP program. Being a guest worker doens't exclude them from applying for citizenship but it gives them no advantage either.
