I wouldn't take my toddler on a pontoon boat. I would become too stressed out that I wouldn't have any fun. My toddler is too active for me to not watch his every move on a boat.

However, if you decide to take your toddler on with you, you have to have TWO lifevests - by law. One that your toddler wears, and one as a back up. If your toddler wiggles out and throws it overboard, you have to have a back up. Or if your toddler falls off, when you get your child back on (and hopefully ok) you will want to have a dry one to put back on.

Please make sure that someone knows first aid & cpr is with you - just in case!

the two life jacket answer is good....IN ADDITION, west marine (www.westmarine.com) sells lifeline netting for sailboats to put on their lifelines to keep people, gear, animals and toddlers abaord.......its about 24in wide and comes on long rolls....I know two couples who sailed around the world with their toddlers with no bad incidents..with the kid fenced in you have alittle breathing space so you dont have to be super paranoid all the time and can enjoy boating....and if someone says the netting spoils the look of the boat, it's standard gear on professional offshore boats, so there!

Make sure that you put a life jacket on him and do not allow him to get next to the sides of the boat.

Yes, just like having a toddler in a racecar or at the running of the bulls.

Keep a life jacket on them, don't let them near the side of the boat, watch them close and don't allow alcohol on board.

I can't see why not, as long as they have the proper floatation device on. check out your state's boating laws to see what exactly you need for them.

check to see if your state is listed on the site below. try looking under the boater safety handbook menu if you don't see it (my state is there but nowhere else).

NO....Toddlers can't swim, and are much to prone to being rambunctious (sp ). And depending on the situation, the adults may be to caught up with their own fun to keep and eye out on him/her.

I wouldnt do it.

Put them in a life vest and gaurd them like your life depends on it, theirs DOES.

Also, take them swimming often, so they are not afraid of the water. Teaching your child to swim early can save their lives.
