When a dog smells pheramones in urine, they automatically pee in that spot. If he is only going in those particular spots, he may be a submissive dog that is not too interested in expanding his territory. That's much nicer than having a dog that lifts his leg on everything!

It works for him, so why not? Don't you usually go to the same place when you need to go? You can retrain him by cleaning the area with bleach, but you'll have to take him out on a leash to where you want him to go EVERY TIME he needs to go for a while (about 2 weeks), and eventually he will start doing it over there. Punishment doesn't work as well 'cause the dog will just wait until he thinks you aren't watching - their minds are a lot like a little kid. Praise him when it does it right and give him a treat - he'll think he's doing a great job and will be happy to pee where you want him to go!

Those are where he prefers to mark his territory. If you bring another male dog over that pees in a different spot, he will start peeing there too.

He is telling all other animals this is his place. I had the same problem and we figured it was becuase there were 6 other pets in the house. You could try getting him fixed or making sure there are no other pets in your house and making sure all of those other odors come out of where ever he is doing this.

if dogs can smell their pee they typically continue to re-mark the spot. at least he's not peeing on your rug ;-)

WTF???
you should take him to a vet, before he starts s#$%ing in the same spot too.

but seriously, take him to a vet.

or he's probably just marking his territory.
dogs tend to do that.

It's his territory. You can buy spray to deter them. But he'll just pick a new spot.

I cant believe that's the ONLY 2 places he goes. Obviously he's comfortable with the familiar aroma. :)

he remarks it so the scent is fresh so other male dogs wont mark over his territory

Try getting him neutered because he is marking his territory.
