I've been seeing the same guy exclusively for two months. Things are going well, spending a lot of time together, talking every day... we're having a great time. As he puts it, he likes spending time with me. So, what's next? Would you call a "meaningful relationship" the next real step in a relationship? We both have kids living at home, which makes it hard. We each know personal things about each other, but should I expect to be able to count on him, and ask him to change plans for me, etc? How do you ask someone what they want?

Only two months? Hmmmm. Why rush things. Slow down, relax, and dont push anything. If it happens it will happen. Let nature take its course.

You need to talk to him and ask him what he wants out of this relationship. Does he just want to spend time with you or does he want to be in a committed relationship with you. You're exclusive but is he? I think you should date more. Two months is a really short time to be asking this.

Don't overthink it. If and when you are ready you can move in together or get engaged. Until then, there really isn't anything to worry about. In fact, don't do anything more to move the relationship along until you're together for a year or two.

you need to get to know one another more that just for two months before you "lay down the law" about expectations for the future, esp with both of you having children might want to slow down and take a breath

Looks like a romantic and relaxed relationship that ought to get the sweet conclusion of marriage with the usual "yours, mine and ours" ending.

you and him need to talk, not you and a forum. sit down, want to be friends plus? wants more? he and you only know those answers. changing plans and counting on him requires committment to something more than just you not knowing, you may be just doing what you are doing, enjoying each others company.
