Exercise is the right answer but consider increasing your exercise routine to 5 days a week even if the extra 2 are just a light walk or jog for 20 to 40 minutes. Cardio, Cardio, Cadio but mixed with a healthy doese of weight training.
As for the food. Be very careful about fad diets. Sometimes they can be effective to take weight off quickly but when you stop it can come back twice as fast and twice as much.
I would consider something more along the lines of what weight watchers does these days. Portion control but you eat what you want. You just have to limit volume in a big way. But that way you don't have to feel like your depriving yourself.
As far as how much you should lose at one time. I beleive the rule of thumb is that you should not try to lose more than about
5 lbs. a week. But that being said in three weeks if you follow a good healthy program you should be able to take off 15 lbs in 3 weeks.
Two other quick things. Be serious about your health, wanting to look good is fine but be healty about it. Also, consider finding a good multi vitamin to take while dieting. Specially with the fad type diets you can deprive your body of needed nutrients.
Lastly, don't get too hung up on time. Your only 13 years old. Get it in your head that this is a life time change to be healthy now and you will be way ahead of the game. So if you lose that
5 lbs. a week great but if you only lose 2 lbs. don't worry about it and keep going and remember hey you did lose 2 lbs. and that's 2 more lbs out of the way.

Hi, I am 13 too! Maybe I can help.
1) Don't go on a diet unless YOU don't like how you look or your weight. Once you lose weight, only lose enough so that you are comfortable and feel good and healthy about your self. Don't listen to others, you know what is right for you.
2) Veggie soup? Eh! Eat different stuff! Have a low fat cereal for breakfast, like something plain. Add a bannana in the cereal to make it yummy. For lunch, eat smaller portions of different things. Eat fruit with your lunch meat sandwich, stuff like that.
3) When you eat smaller portions and get hungry later before supper or lunch. Eat a little more cereal in between or an apple. Just to curb your appitite.
4) DO NOT SKIP MEALS. Not only will you be straying in the path of anorexia, when you do eat, you body will try to store the food.
5) Eat at about the same time every day. If you eat at 10 am then 3 pm and then 11 pm always at different times, your body will try to store that fat. ( that is why truck drivers are fat)
6) Exersize! That doesn't mean always at curves. Just go outside for a walk. Go to the pool. Bike ride. Play soccer with your friends. Just make sure you are active 2 - 3 hours a day. Don't get me wrong, i don't mean go run for an hour. It doesn't even have to be all at once.
7) Have fun! Don't force your self to do un fun exercizes. You will get discouraged and try to give up. If you have fun, and laugh your diet will be TONS easier.
P. S. Each time you laugh you lose calories!!! lol =)

... ok look. the only way to lose weight is to eat healthy, and to exercise a lot. that means swim all day 2 or 3 times a week, go to the park by bike, and enjoy yourself, as loog as you're doing something that keeps you active. just don't eat all burgers and chips, eat some salad, have some chicken, and some water. then a while after, do something else for a while, and go to bed. wake up, EAT BREAKFAST, and do something physical for a while during te day. abd yes its possible to lose 13 lbs in a month. some people do it in a week. dont try to though. take a steady pace so u dont starve yourself.

Honey I am 14 and I am underweight, Don't be sad, the important thing is to be healthy, being skinny is not good too, I can't find any clothes for me. If you want to loose some weight, my advise to you is, don't eat to much, drink not hot and not very cold water in the nights,don't eat after 6:00p.m and be sure to be active. you can dance or do some work at home. I hope you to loose weight and be happy about you're body.

Whoa! You're 13 and on a diet? Forget about it--just eat relatively healthy, get some exercise outside with friends, and let nature take its course. No need for diets at your age. Your still growing, so you have to give you & your body a break. Just relax.

First and foremost check with your doctor about weight loss and your diet. They can tell you what would be healthy for you. Most doctors and nutritionalists will tell you that losing anything over 4 pounds a week is simply water loss and will come back immediately.

That veggie soup diet is crazy. You are gonna be so hungry and you'll gain all the wieght back. Look into the Suzane Somers Low carb Diet, do a google search or buy one of her books.
Its really easy and works fast. other than that keep up the cardio.

just eat plenty of fruit and vegetables and the secret is drink plenty of water. Sometimes (from personal experience) our bodies make us think that we are hungry when in fact we are thirsty.
Or maybe go to see a doctor and see if he/she can help put together a healthy eating plan and exercise plan.
Aim to do 30-60mins of activity a day (either walking, dancing...anything that makes you work hard)

You can also try doing Pilates. Thats what I'm doing to get toned up. Pilates works muscles you never knew you had! Its great! My first class was a lot of stretching, I thought to myself, "Is this it!?" but the next morning my butt and abs were sore. It really works!
