Not all atheists are annoying. Just the ones who want to shove their beliefs down our throats.

Why is Christianity just as narrow-minded and annoying as Christianity?

I found on both sides also very open-minded protagonists.

The narrow-minded ones are those, who claim for their point of view the absolute truth. But since absolute truth only can be found in mathematics for the trivial cases (like 1 + 1 = 2) they are just wrong.

Actually the narrow-minded ones try to protect themselves in order not having to admit, that they might be wrong with a chance between 0% and 100%. This is the philosophy or Aristotle, which we westerners suck in almost with our mother's milk: exist only black and white .... right or wrong .... good and bad ... atheism or religion.

But the world isn't this way: the world is grey instead of black or white .... it is right and wrong at the same time (therefore we need judges) ....it is at the same time good and bad ( look e. g. on the Bush administration or any other government) .... and therefore the narrow-minders on both sides, atheists and christians, are just wrong.

If you want to open your mind, try to think "fuzzy" and all of a sudden you understand them all .... atheists and christians, both of them are wrong and both of them are right. The percentage of truth in both of them is the question.

I think some atheists have searched their souls and hearts and not found a God or a reason to continue searching. But I think many others self identify as atheist because they were raised in a church tradition, such as Christianity, and have somehow felt left out or betrayed by the church. Their feelings are fuled by that betrayal and not by a sincere thought out belief in the absence of God. For these people, being an atheist is like being an ex-smoker or drinker. They are the loudest and most certain of their path.

It doesn't make them bad people.

Christianity is 'narrow-minded' as you put it because we know what is right, and we know the Truth. Atheism just believes a little bit of everything, which means nothing, and they think that will somehow save them for the wrath of Satan. All I can say is get your head out of the sand, because Hell will not be fun.

In Caboman's answer he stated 'Atheism just believes a little bit of everything, which means nothing, and they think that will somehow save them for the wrath of Satan.'

1. Atheists do NOT believe a little bit of everything, you are thinking of agnostics who believe that they simply do not know what is true, and that no one else knows either.
Atheists are those who do NOT believe in a God or Gods. That is all. That is what defines an atheist. That is where the word comes from atheist = a-theist, meaning non-theistic, or non-believing in a God.

2. Atheists do NOT think that anything will 'save them for the wrath of Satan' because they do not believe that there is a 'Satan' to begin with or anything to be saved FROM.

If you're going to answer questions, Caboman, you might consider learning a little about the subject.

It's the pat robinsons and the (atheist equivalent of pat Robinson)s of the world that give both groups the impression of being narrow minded and dumb. If people just talk to each other, maybe they would figure out that there are some crazies in every single group on earth.

Depends on your definition of atheism, and your definitions of Christianity, and narrow-mindedness!!!! Christians strive to be Christlike. If the people who call themselves Christians, and the people whom you are classifying Christians, are NOT striving to be Christlike, then you are not talking about REAL Christians here. Real Christians are not narrow-minded, but rather CONFIDENT in what they believe. They are so confident that they don't have to be hateful or judgemental. Perhaps you don't know any real Christians.

I don't get your question either. I'm not an atheist (Agnostic, rather) but I have many atheist friends. They're not narrow-minded, they just want to be left alone by Christians and religious fanatics that keep bugging them.

And they're certainly not annoying. Generally, I find that to be untrue.

neither are annoying. But perhaps atheism is narrow-minded because it refuses to listen to reason, or even be open to listen to others. (my experience with most atheists, though I have met some that are not close-minded)

neither choice makes one narrow minded or annoying, people belonging to either group can behave this way and some are more extreme than others, maybe it is your lack of understanding or limited exposure to people who belong to these groups, especially if it is limited to this site, also looking at your questions there is not much that does not annoy you and the world reflects back what you project on to it, and you my friend need to cultivate some positivity
