It depends on the interpretation as does everything in the Bible. The bible will prove or disprove any thing. A good preacher can convince their congregation of their church that the verse means whatever. As a child in1941. The Baptist Church that I went to
Would not:
Allow women in makeup
Homosexuals
Blacks
Divorced women, Prostitutes- Men were O.K.
Dresses much above the ankle
Dyed hair
Low cut dresses
Dresses without a slip ( See Through Dress)
Ladies without hats
Ladies in pants
Ladies who smoked
Men had to be dressed properly -No Jeans-No shorts.
The bible has not changed. Interpretation has.
