We exchange hand-crafted gifts on the Solstice.
Many Pagans and Wiccans I know do exchange gifts. We are celebrating the promise of light. The days start getting warmer and longer, we have survived the dark of the year so it would seem to me personally that a ritual of sharing what we have is appropriate.

Not a Wiccan but respectfully studied many aspects of it. Wiccans don't seem to dislike religion, despite the opposite attitude and their dislike of the attitude. A lot of Wiccans I encounted actually saw no reason not to enter a church, give presents, or do other things socially and respectfully. Anti-other-religion attitudes aren't really an aspect of Wiccan belief as of 1970-1980, when I was studying it.
What it has evolved into now, I can't say, save that I still have friends in it and they haven't seemed different.

I am a neo-pagan but not a Wiccan. Still, I'd like to answer the question. For the solstice I usually give nice scented candles to adults. They symbolize the season for me and non-pagans seem to enjoy them too. When that would be inappropriate, I give gifts to reflect the season and nature. Some examples are items with a sun or evergreen motif. My hubby and I celebrate on the solstice and use the 25th as a freebie lazy day off work(we don't have children).

Gift giving is acceptable, both during Yule, and at other times of the year.
The Wiccan Rede applies as much to physical life, as it does to spiritual life.
If the gift harms somebody, you just violated the Wiccan Rede. Bear that in mind, when you decide what to give, and to whom to give it.

I can't say that I am strictly Wiccan.... however, I have studied their teachings extensively. Gift giving is always a good idea. Many gifts are as easy to give as a hug or a kiss. The power of intention is worth much more than the power of any material. Best wishes

Sure it is okay. One reference to early pagans was that Odin was suppose to travel out and give presents to his loyal follows on the Winter Solstice. The Solstice reminds us that the dark is ending and the light is returning so why shouldn't you show joy at this and want to share with others.

yes, we want presents too. I'm sure most wiccans celebrate the usual holidays, but put their own spin on them.
