This is a common problem with birth control pills. I myself, had a bad experience with them and gaining weight. It also messed up my cycle, and has taken years to regulate.
I would recommend trying another method to improve your skin.

Some women do gain some weight depending on what type/brand of birth control they take. I've normally only heard of breasts getting a bit fuller while on some pills. It's different for many women. If it's a problem, request a different prescription.

because birth control pills regulate your hormones, they can cause weight gain. If you're seriously taking birth control pills for your skin, there are better ways to take care fo your skin. I highly doubt a dermatologist can prescribe birth control pills. If they can, I'd advise finding another dermatologist and reporting the current one.

A lot of people gain weight on the pill. Talk to you dr. There might be a lower-dose pill or something else you can do to improve your skin condition.

I read in Cosmopolitan that gaining weight because of Birth Controls is a myth. So it's possible that psychologically you assumed you were going to gain weight and ate a little more.
