I have a shih tzu puppy he is about 3 yrs old if i got another shih tzu puppy would the older 1 be ok with it?

i basically mean will the older one be over protective of his 'territory'?

That is to be carefully tested on a dog-by-dog basis, regardless of breed. One Tzu may be okay with it, while the next one would not. It will depend upon the temperament of your own dog, and the manner in which you introduce the new puppy.

Do some reading before you attempt this introduction, and be sure to do it correctly, and they *should* get along fine. Best of luck to you!

Shih tzu's are generally very social creatures and will get along well with other shih tzu's. Try to love both equally without any favoritism and all should be well. By the way, your 3-yr old is no longer a puppy.

We had one cat, introduced one who was 7 months old to him (he was over a year) and they got along fine. Then a year later we got a kitten only a few weeks old, and they all got along fine. With dogs there might be more of a territory thing, but usually they get over it and get used to each other. Proving theyre both fixed... if horemones get involved you might have problems :)

It might be but, make sure to treat them the same 'cause they can get jealous. Well you got to introduce them slowly because if you introduce the puppy quickly to the other dog's favorite spots he might get over protective but, If you slowly introduce them then he will except the puppy.
