I'm black but according to everyone that i've met "I act white." Now, don't ask who one "acts white" because that's an entirley different topic. Anyway when people I don't know say that it really bothers me, I have black folks who mock me all the time. Any suggestion on what I should do... (and yea I do find tons of whit guys to be hot but that doesn't make me racist agianst black guys either....I get that sometimes...)

FYI- I have not one racist bone in my body. I love everyone no matter what the color of thier skin is.

I am white and I know several different people from different races. I don't think there is a certain way to act. I think you are just being your self and those people are being racist. I like people from all different races and I wish the rest of the world would too.

Raise an eyebrow and ask, "How, exactly, does one "act white"? Is white some sort of culture I wasn't aware of? Does my skin color dictate my personality?" Then roll your eyes and leave. People who say things like that are assuming that skin color is more than just a physical feature, and in doing so, showing how racist they are. Saying that people can act black or white is like saying someone can act blue-eyed.

That happens to me a lot also. I really dislike it when people tell me I'm not acting my race because it implies that my skin color should determine my actions. -_-

I don't care about a person's race. Anyone can be a murderer or a rapist or a pedophile or one of those other groups that makes society a very unpleasant place. On the other hand anyone can be kind, nice, gentle, sweet, smart and respectable. Race is the package, not the content.

omg same thing here.... HAHAHA i hate it. I'm mixed but look more black i guess. But people make fun of me because of the way I talk and dress.. theyre like why you talk white, why do you dress like a white girl, black people don't snowboard.
I just get so offended. Because I'm just being me! and they make fun of me. Even my cousins call me white girl or asian girl.
Because of my mix. grrr i still hate it to this day. I just don't get it! It just hurts sometimes. Because I feel like they are being sterotyping white people. And won't tell me what "acting white is". Or being a valley girl. Im like so what. I mean is there such this as "acting black?" that's the most copied way of being in the universe. I just don't get it!!!

And another thing i'm attracted to asian guys. I'm not racist or anything either. I just don't feel attracted to black men. That's all. I feel that I can relate more to my other side. Oh yeah and all my life i went to like catholic schools (all white) but still i had black friends. it doesn't justify the way I talk though. I'm goignt obe something im know you know...That's just me! <3

I wouldnt change myself because of what people say. You are you-- wonderfully made and you should be proud of that. Just because you don't act ghetto 24-7 doesn't make you any less black. I'm a woman of color myself (lol i love sayin that instead of just sayin im black!!) and to me there are times to be ghetto and there are times to act like i have common sense. I get called white by the extra ghetto people i hang with but they respect me for it. When i do show my ghetto side they respect that part of me too. Just keep doin you.

Hey, you act like yourself and dont try to act black or white. Just be you and let the knuckleheads run their mouths. By "acting" black and not being yourself, you'd just feed the old ghetto stereotype. BTW who says acting like the typical black is really all that? I am not putting down sista's, no not at all. If its what a person really is, kewl. But if you pretend to be something you really ain't, thats phony.

You know, I never understood that either about "acting white" or "acting black". You are you and that is beautiful within itself.

Keep on being you, when people mock you or make snide remarks about you...Remember this one thing: Whatever people say about you, says nothing about you but everything about them.

Stay being you.....if people were as open minded as you, we wouldn't have as many racial problems as the U.S. has now!!

You go girl! :-)

Well, we simply don't understan racism... the human race is just one... I think that only in the U.S. problems can born from the colour of the skin... in the rest of the world, problems have a cultural base. What can you do? Be gentle, be human, be yourself.
