You *should* bring something small, just as you would to any party hosted by someone else. A bottle of wine or bubbly would be great.
My local Trader Joe's has 'Mirabelle' bubbly that's around $15 - it's exactly what I would bring to a small gathering/party.

I say yes in most cases about presents. But with a wedding this gets a no. You will most likely give a shower gift, and a wedding gift. So 2 is enough. The engagement party is just to announce it to friends and family. Only need to attend and be happy for the couple.

Usually a card is the best way to go. I didn't even have an engagement party. You already spend enough money on the shower and wedding itself.

If they expect you to buy a wedding present, I would just take a bottle of Champagne to the Engagement Party.

My fiance and I are having an engagement party and I am not expecting presents.
If you feel you should take something I think a card would do just fine.

you aren't expected to shower the newly weds with presents. if you'd like to bring a gift to the party, which i'm sure some people will, then you don't need to bring one to the wedding.

i would say no because you'll be giving a gift at the wedding. if you cant make the wedding then i would maybe bring a gift, but other then that...no.

or new wine glasses ..er soemthing.
something fun i guess. nothing too big cause you gotta get a wedding gift.
