ikea is great IF you have one in your area. Be aware of their cheap sofas- the $199 one is quite small- more like loveseat size- and would feel like kids furniture to a large adult. Their other sofas that are standard size are more in the $500+ range. Other than that depending on where you are check the value places- the discounters. Also- you tend to get what you pay for in sofas, and watch how big you get them. The recent trend towards oversize sofas makes them nearly too big to get in a doorway!

There are probably some discount furniture warehouses in your area. Just check around. Usually the ones that have the word Sale permanently painted on the side of their building will have something cheap.
