Go to Petsmart and get a FELIWAY plug in or the spray. The stuff calms them, its like the thing they have under their chins (you know how she always will rub things with her chin? it mimics the "friendly" facial pheromones cats apply to surfaces to show their "ownership.") and makes them feel comfortable. Also, give her 2 litterboxes -its that whole how many cats + 1. If you have 5 cats, get 6 litter boxes and clean it constantly. I've heard that prozac is good too but I don't know how limited your options are. I had this problem a few months ago and it only got worse until I learned a few things like I've told you. Now I'm in the clear and everything is ok. Good Luck!!

Have you had your cat spayed/neutered? That should solve the problem. You may also want to make sure you keep the litterbox extra clean. One of my cats won't use the litter box if it's been neglected.
I'd be willing to bet that because it's a behavioral problem you'll need to show a lot of praise when your cat uses the litter box and let him/her know that they're bad when they don't use it.
Good luck.

Jennifer said exactly what I was going to.I had a cat that was in misery and felt like he had to pee all the time and cried. This cat was male and the vet said no dry food, that he wasn't drinking enough water and can food has a lot of water in it.He loves dry food so we gave him very little from our hand as a treat once in a great while. My Grand-daughter used to wet her bed so after the sheets were in the laundry the cat peed on them sometimes but he was an out door cat and stopped.

Quite often they do this if they have a kidney or bladder infection. He needs a vet exam. If not a physical problem, then make sure the litter box is clean & check to see if there's anything at all new around that could be stressing him. Some cats get upset if you just rearrange the furniture! Best of luck!

You should take your cat to the vet to find out if it's a behavioral or medical problem. She could possibly have a bladder infection, which would lead her to pee everwhere. Or, she might be upset at you for some reason and is taking it out on you by peeing where she shouldn't. Your first step should be the vet. Even if it does turn out to be a behavioural issue, your vet will be able to help. Good luck!

Because they pee where they smell the pee so if this is a new home maybe the prior owners had a cat that peed in the house. The pee smell goes into the carpet, pad and subfloor and is virtually impossible to get out without replacing your floor coverings

how old is she? is she spayed? my female cat Maxy used to pee on everything!! when she was little, she was 6 weeks old when I got her and she peed on everything until the day I got her fixed at 9 months, I could have got her spayed earlier but she was pregnant, she did use the cat littler box too but she still peed on everything else. The vet told me it is a natural thing females do but it went away when I got her spayed. 4.5 years later she is doing just fine.

My friends cat used to pee everywhere until they got it neutered or spayed or one of the two. I think she said because they are in heat.

We had a similar problem with one of our two female cats. As daft as it seems, we cured her of this by giving her as much fuss as possible. Particularly brushing her for at least 10 minutes every night.
