I just tried a "temporary" hair dye for the first time. Not a good experience.

The box says that if you are going "darker", that it may not wash out in the typical amount of washes, only if you dye it about the same color.

I used one that was close to my natural color (dirty blonde) and my hair went dark brown! And don't get excited thinking that's what you want because mine turned the ugliest, fakest brown you've ever seen... NOT attractive!

My hairdresser who had to fix my hair said that there are NO products that are truly "temporary" in nature, they are always permanent.

So be very careful with the home dye jobs. My first experience was horrible and I looked ridiculous with this fake color on my hair.

What you can use is called a rinse (level 1). It usually comes out in 6-10 washes. There are several different brands, Clairol Loving Care is a good one to start with.

Also, for better color but it lasts up to 6 weeks is a demi-permanent color, also known as a level 2 color. The only one that I think makes it still (that you can buy at the store) is Clairol Natural Instinct. This stuff works very well and is easy to use yourself.

Colour Pulse works really well. Just make sure you either choose a darker colour or look on the package to make sure the dye will work okay on your blonde hair.

There are a few other brands that you could use, but I can't remember any of them off the top of my head. Check out your local grocery store and just read the labels. It should say "semi-permanent" or "permanent", and just make sure you get semi if you don't want it to last very long.

Also keep in mind that if your hair grows slowly, the dye won't come out in ten washes.

Color pulse is great. It's really easy to use, and it smells good.

I'm actually using it today.

I'm two-toning my hair. "Funky Cherry" on top to pump up my red (faded professional dye) and "Chilled Plum" on the bottom to tint my marron-ish brown (professional dye).

It's great.

I have lots of pictures of several friends and I with Color Pulse hair dye.

I'll post the links to a few if you'd like. =]

I love it ! I love a change every now & then, this one does the job. The more you wash your hair the faster it goes out.
