I've had several different breed of dogs and I'd have to say my Black Lab. was the most lovable and playful of them all. He was very smart too. He loved the water, and playing fetch. I haven't owned a dog since he died. I was so heartbroken I just couldn't go through that again. But really, there are so many great dogs I don't see how you could make a wrong choice.

My lab is 140 lbs of dog easy going always has his ball not a great watchdog, the shepherd is alway on the alert and heals the big lab funny to see.

Labs are one of the smartest dogs & make excellent pets... espacially with kids. They are highly adaptable, low maintainence and very friendly!
My personal favorite, which I've owned, is a Siberian Husky. They are beautiful, sweet tempered, intelligent and don't bark!!! They howl like a wolf. They do however molt each year, and a tremendous amount of fur comes off. Plus, they need to be ran regularly... they can go very fast and for long distances.

any dog can be the "best" kind, it just depends on what you want. I have a border collie and he is soooo smart. And easily trained.
and I have a jack russel mix and she is smart, too. She's very agile and a little ball of energy.
It just depends on what qualities you want in a dog.

The best kind of dog is the one you fall in love with. Doesn't matter what breed it is.

Beyond any doubt in my mind, coming from a person who has had many different breeds, the Jack Russell Terrier has been the best
