Yes and no. The seven churches are a metefor for the churches and their beliefs and actions of today. They can also be applied to what we as individuals do and believe.

Yes, they are located in Turkey. And they consist of only like 20-30 members or so. Very small churches. These people are the outsiders in the community and are persecuted for their beliefs. Being Christian there is not the "in" thing.

I've heard that at least one of them never did exist. Some early Christians questioned the right of the book to be in the canon, and gave the fact as evidence to support their case.

Hypothetically, yes. I can see the spirit of the Laodician (lukewarm) church in today's Christianity. As a Christian, I am saying that yes, we have our faults! But we are human just like everyone else! But to my fellow Christians, guys we need to shape up, because if you haven't seen on here lately, we do more fighting than we do standing. I have to admit that I have joined in. To those of you who rip up my Jesus, I hope you know what you are doing.

revelations doesn't actually mention seven churches, but seven spirits, stars, lampsteads,heads, angels, plagues, and kings. Many people take this to mean countries, not churches.

They are actually the characteristics of the church in the last days. They represent the state of today's church (the body of Christ)

I think they weren't literal churches (as in denominations or buildings) but more like "The beleivers" in Asia and so on...
