A little bit of wine should be okay. If you're cooking with it, the alcohol will cook out. I'm also really cautious about drinking alcohol since it's in my genes. I limit wine consumption to only a few glasses a month. It can take some getting used to. I also insist on having it with food and drinking it slowly, enjoying it with my meal and I never drink alone. I must have someone with me just in case. I've never been drunk, maybe a bit tipsy, but then again I had five glasses of wine. All the guys kept wondering why I was upright and walking normally (they were completely plastered and had way more to drink!).

Only red wine because of the antioxidants - and you only need one small glass to get the benefits. Drinking a glass or so of wine a day will not make you an alcoholic. [4-6oz]
I heard somewhere that having any more than two drinks is a binge. So make sure you don't start binging if alcoholism runs in the family.

when people say that it is "good for you," it sort of is. all it does is open up the veins a little bit more so more blood can pump through. what makes it do that is the amount of sugar (fruit) in wine. if you ate a fruit a day instead of having a glass of wine it would do the same thing, but without the alcohol.

no there are some people that drink at least a glass a wine a day for dinner. I think one glass a day is not bad but if you drink like a whole bottle a day then there could be a problem. I hear it thins your blood and it's kind of good for you.

Studies have been done and publicized in the news that wine, IN MODERATION, is beneficial. When using wine in cooking, the heat burns off the alcohol so there are zero adverse effects from use in this manner.
Moderation would be one glass per day in my humble opinion.

Medical studies indicate that all alcoholic drinks, IF CONSUMED IN MODERATION AND ESPECIALLY WITH MEALS, AND NEVER IN BINGING,
provide benefit and increase life expectancy of about 2 years for males, 1 1/2 years for females. Because of certain chemicals in skins of red grapes the
benefit is a little more, but you can get the same chemicals by eating red grapes or drinking red grape juice.

You can become an alcoholic drinking any type of alcohol in excess, especially if alcoholism runs in your family. A glass of red wine is good for your health and as long as you just have one glass you shouldn't have any problems with becoming an alcoholic. However, if it runs in your family you might not wanna take any chances.
