Where does that survival instinct come from?

all animals have a survival instinct.. the longer you live the more likely you will reproduce and have offspring to carry on your DNA.. that is why many living things die after reproduction.. they are done and have no more reason to live.. all creatures want their own offspring to live. this is why females of many species pick the biggest and/or strongest male to breed with. this means that more than likely the offspring will be big or strong and survive easier..

Uh....from instinct??

Why do people fight to survive? Why does any animal fight to survive if backed into a corner? Certainly animals do not acknowledge the existence of God. It is an instinct designed to protect your life long enough for you to reach sexual maturity. Then you have offspring, and then you die. Simple.

Here's how it goes: Through the process of evolution and random mutation, some animals gained the survival instinct (a symptom of brain chemistry) and some did not. Animals without survival instinct were, unsurprisingly, not as good at surviving.

i think it comes from childhood. There was probably an incident that happened that the person does not even remember and that is what they had to do to survive "fight"

If you die or otherwise end up not mating as a result of failure to fight, your genes are removed from the gene pool. If you fight needlessly, your genes also tend to be removed from the gene pool.

The dominant genes will be the ones that fight just enough to improve their replication odds. In terms of human behavior, this tends to manifest itself as fighting for dominance, and stopping when it becomes clear who will win.

It is a built in drive just as natural and effortless as breathing for most anyway. Some people just hate life in general...

Doesn't work that way. It's melodramatic. People fight mostly because they're evil. They're dead yellowbellied where they're SUPPOSED to fight. Usually on moral plane.
