We have different worldviews, histories, priorities, morals, cultures, etc. If one religion were to actually be adopted, it would have to be so watered down and dumbed down to appeal to the masses that it wouldn't be worth having. Besides that, who would decide on the tenets of this world religion? Hinduism is the third largest religion in the world---so would their concept of reincarnation and karma be included? Would the Buddhist concept of "nothingness" be included? Would the duty of making religious pilgrimages be included? Or would a deciding committee just choose one religion and force it onto everyone worldwide? How would they force it? What if the religion chosen was one that you aren't familiar with or didn't agree with---would you just say, "Oh well. It's the world's religion now so I'll just give up my beliefs and denounce my deity/ies and believe whatever they tell me to."?

People live different lives.

Some people lead. Most people follow. Leaders wont follow other leaders. They change something , no matter how small to gain power. Hence, Martin Luther: He branched off Roman Catholic church with the only difference of the "Maryism". Now, you have the Lutheran church.

Islam is no different, as soon as Mohammed died, they were fighting (literally) over who got to run the "church".

Politics is what it boils down to. David Karesch ( forgive the spelling), took Christianity to the paronoid level, and had his "followers" so scared, they killed ATF agents.

The list goes on and on, and its not just religion. Any position of power has these issues. Kings have been murdered, by their own relatives for the chance at power.

As long as someone *thinks* he can gain something more than he has right now, then you will always have these problems.

Because their is no consensus on what the true religion is. Even if you just look at Christianity the different sects are not in complete agreement on what the bible says. It is a natural part of the human condition to question that which we don't understand. With each of us choosing the path that makes the most sense for them based on personal experience and world view.

For some thing like this to take place you're able to the two have all and sundry to agree on what's sweet and what's incorrect in each and every of the minute info and make that familiar consensus the religion OR stress all and sundry to settle for one specific faith on the exclusion of the different or 'else'... I fail to work out what specific benefit that ought to convey, as you have human beings interior any given faith arguing with one yet another over interpretations of scripture, with schism happening. case in point: there replaced right into a time the place all christianity replaced into catholic. Then it splintered and there replaced into orthodox and roman catholic. Later, protestantism chop up off the catholic, and itself chop up into maximum of distinctive factions, it somewhat is tricky to maintain tab on them. regardless of this, you will have a tricky time bringing us atheist in; you will could desire to get us to evaluate there's a god interior the 1st place, and robust luck with that.

I humbly reply that the one world religion is far too simple to be followed. All that is required in it is kindness.
