2 Papillon pups were born and both were able to feed from the mother. A week & a half passed by, one of the puppies looked smaller than the other one. I observed if he was feeding from the mom, but he wasn't. So I used Esbilac and fed him. On the back, it said to feed the puppy 2 tablespoons (30ml) per 4 ounces of body weight daily. Do you think that's too much for him? He weighs 8.5oz and he looks small. During that night, he started to breathe rapidly & his tummy was sort of bloated. So I stopped feeding him and fed him only 1 tablespoon. We then took him to the vet and she said his heart and lungs sounded good. She told us to help stimulate the puppy when the mom's not around. We went back home and did what she told us to do. So over the night, I fed him Esbilac - 1 tablespoon, b/c I thought 2 tablespoon was too much for him. He still started to breathe rapidly and does anyone know what occurs this? Also, when do I stimulate the puppy? After I'm done feeding or few min later? Thanks

I would recommend stimulating between feedings atleast 30 minutes after feeding to allow digestion.

Stimulate al the time. Help him to have aBM and Urinate by rubbing those areas. as far as feeding. be careful. you can get the milk in his lungs and cause pnemonia. Feed very small amounts multiple times per day rather than all at once this is better for thier digestion and helps to keep his immune system up

Call the same vet that has already looked at the puppy and ask her these questions over the phone, that way you don't have to take it in again. I am sure she will know a lot more than what you will get of Answers!

We had a new puppy that did that to. we did not feed her that though, but she would start breathing extremely fast and we thought she was having promblems breathing. I dk why but puppies breath fast when they are really young, I think it is okay, but you might want to condsider going to a diffrent vet to check out your pup.

After you fed the pup use a wet paper towel or clean cloth to wipe his little butt till he poops, he can't do it on his own yet.
