I got my new puppy from the local animal rescue shelter. I was told she's 1/2 long-haired Chihuahua and 1/2 mini-pin. I don't see the mix. What do you think?

I saw the mom, but she looked like a yorkie to me. I have no idea what the dad was.

You guys are ruining my day. I wanted a small indoor dog. I have no idea what I'd do with a big dog. Our yard isn't even fenced and we didn't want to fence it.

I saw the puppy's sister yesterdat (DH's niece took it) and she looks just like the Taco Bell dog, but with a bit longer hair. The ears on it stick straight up. She said she had a friend who also has a Chipin that looks just like hers. So I guess mine is one, but just didn't get any strong traits from either side.

Maybe chihuahua x min pin somewhere far back in his blood line, but your puppy looks like he is going to have long hair and be larger than a chihuahua or min pin.
He looks kind of like a shepherd x chow cross. Does he have any black pigment on his tongue? Really cute though.....

She is the CUTEST whatever she is!!! She is already bigger than an adult chihuahua or min-pin, I think, they don't get more than 10lbs or so. It looks like she may have wiry hair than normal...maybe a terrier cross? If the fur is softer and fluffier she may be a pomeranian mix. She probably won't be more than 20 lbs. If the shelter knew the owner, you should ask if they can contact the previous owners to get info about the parents. Meeting them or getting info about their behavior and temperment will give you a better idea of what training and socialization will be required. See if you can find out what happened to her littermates...it would be interesting to see how they look...some may look more like a certain breed, and it would be cute to get them together for play groups!

I am also of the opinion that she won't get particularly huge. She does look to have a bit of Yorkie by the coloring, but jeez, that could be attributed to any breed that has that color of hair. To me, she looks like a terrier mix, but as a previous poster said, it is very hard to tell with some dogs. I think you'll just have to wait and see... She's not built like a great big dog, though. And she is very, very cute!

Best of luck to you!

That has got to be the cuitest puppy i've ever seennnnnnn!!!!
but it looks nothing like a Chihuahua, i have one. nor a min pin. I'd say a shepherd and mabey chow. But before you get upset, Shepherds are great dogs, chows are a little aggresive but i am sure it'll grow up to be a good dog.
hope this helped
good luck

Doesn't look like either to me. Rescues are notorious for being way off in there guesses of breed crosses.

She is adorable though! Probably a mix of several breeds.

I don't think she will get large, medium would be my guess.
30 - 40 lbs.

She has the coloring of a Yorkie and looks like the hair type of a terrier. Doesn't look like she'll get very big tho. Very cute.

That ain't no muskey bait of a dog! Think you're gonna need a big back yard. She definitely looks to have some shepherd in her...Big dogs rule anyway!

She is beautiful! She looks like a tiny little collie. But I don't see the chihuahua or mini-pin. Oh well, she is cute!
