Well sure why not! He is your son and he just wants to feel love by his mother. This doesn't matter but, my son is 17 almost 18 and my daughter is 19 almost 20. We give each other hugs every chance we can get. We are very close and care for each other a great deal. I also may be just a security thing with your son to reassure him you love him. Who does he stay with while you are at work and how old is he? email me back and let me know may be a diff issue.

He probably just misses you. There is nothing wrong with focuses a little attention on your child after being at work all day. Set a time limit (maybe 15-20 minutes) after you get home before you have to start fixing dinner or whatever and cuddle, play, whatever...

Why is this mother doubting her motherly instincts? The child obviously misses his/her mother and comforting your child is the most natural thing in the world. A child has to feel that its mother is acknowledging its feelings of loss when its mother goes to work, and to know that the mother is happy to see him/her when she returns. And it is also a stress reducer for the mother.

You said "child", so is it safe to assume he is no longer a baby?

No, you should not hold him and snuggle every time, he needs to learn separation is a part of life.

Sure!

He's missed her, and that time--though the mom may have to limit it, maybe even by setting a timer, just so she can do other things--improves his feeling of safety, love and constancy. Those are all Very Good Things for a child's development, and eventual emotional health.

YES...hug them several times a day. I cuddle with my 9 yr old everyday when I come home. One day, like my 13 year old, they will think they are to big for hugs and kisses. Embrace these moments because they grow up so fast.

Why not? My son is happy to see me when I get home. I WANT to pick him up and give him a hug. It's a show of affection and love.

Yes, he's missed you, and feels safe when you're there. Hold him, snuggle with him, and let him know that you're there, and that you love him.
