I used to have a similar problem...the one thing that works for me is to write stuff. Like when you're reading a chapter in a book, take notes while reading, once the chapter is done reread your notes, if your notes make sense to you...great! If not go over the chapter and fill in the details necessary to make your notes easier to understand. Once your done writing the notes, try summarizing the chapter using only your notes. By the end of all the writing you are more likely to remember what you have read.
Also, in the communication dept. I recommend you write down what you want to say on a piece of paper and try memorizing it, this way when you are talking to someone your end of the conversation will flow better, also tell the person not to interupt until your done talking because this could impede your thought process and the message you are trying to convey.
Memory, is something that needs a constant reminder of things before it can remember on its own. Some people are sharp and can remember the instant they see a message or something, other's need a constant reminder... but, what ever works for you try it and see. Also, over the years I think I haver learned that memory is about using different techniques to remember things... try Mnemonics, rhyme schemes, matching games to help you remember things.
Furthermore, my mom says 5 pieces of almonds a day makes for a sharper brain... So try investing a few bucks in some almonds or walnuts and see if that helps you remember.

You are complaining about poor short term memory. This could be a result of many things.
1. Lack of sleep (try sleeping at night between 12am-3am, it has something to do with astrology, it supposedly regenerates your mind/body most efficiently during this time at night in your time zone)
2. Diet. Poor memory can be a result from eating foods with aspartame. What foods to avoid? Artificial sweeteners (equal, nutrasweet), chewing gum, most sugarfree foods, especially avoid ALL diet sodas (they contain aspartame).
3. Get some physical exercise. Exercise will improve your blood circulation and more blood will get to the brain, thereby improving all brain functions as well.
4. Get some BRAIN exercise. Most people are lazy to one extent or another. Your poor memory may just be a result of being lazy, even if you don't acknowledge it. Do some memory exercises, do activities that exercise your left and right parts of your brain. Examples: read a book, do math problems, go look at some art, draw something. Find out what are good exercises for your right part of the brain, and exercises for the left part of the brain. The more you exercise your brain, the better it will function, and the more satisfaction you will have out of life. Not to mention that your short term memory will also improve.
4. Avoid taking drugs such as nicotine, alcohol, weed, or other illegal drugs.
Attention Deficit Disorder = a diagnosis created for lazy people who think that by taking a pill, it will give them the discipline they need
Attention Deficit Disorder Medication = Won't fix your problem, you will suffer from the side effects, you will also make the manufacturer of the medication rich.

Oh...now....let's see....Hmm, what was the question?? Oh, yes!
Just kidding.
Some people say there are certain herbs you can take for that, but I can't remember what they are. (Seriously)
So, you forget instantly? You may want to ask a doctor- there may be something wrong.
