I always cut my hair really short (spikey) but now I wanna keep my hair long. I have not gone to the haircutter lately, but my hair is getting out of control and uneven. How should I tell the haircutter to just even my hair because last time they just cut it really really short even though I said just even it out? ( i seen people cut the sides really short all the way around, but leave the top long, and the long hair covers the short part..what is this called?)

You have to be specific, tell the Hair Dresser to just trim the bottom. To say just even it out. Leaves a wide open gap of interpretation. SAY You are growing out the chop top look. SAY you don't want Layers like you have now. Better yet.
Say to the Hair Dresser: Please trim the bottom ONLY, and if you see the stylist attempting to even take a pair of scissors to the top. SAY: STOP!!!!!
PS They should charge you less also. In fact ask before the cutting appointment, how much is it to "just trim/the lower part of the hair, because you are growing out the look you have now." If the stylist still doesn't get the picture go somewhere else.

I have no idea what that is called. Try getting to the hairdresser early to look through some books. Find a picture of someone whos face is a similar shape, whose hair is the same texture. Then, you will be able to point and say "DO THIS!". Sometimes when your hair is in that In-Between stage, the best thing is to pay a little extra money, go to a good salon and have them even it out. That way, as your hair grows, the salon will give you a shape that will just flow as you get normal trims.

for a guy, get a 1/8th inch trim, for a girl, keep the top long and the bottom at the collar until you get the two to meet, and a really good style is the flip when you get it long enough to do it. That helps to keep from getting tired of it and cutting it off again,

No haha... dont pay attention to the guy above. that's wholesome to cut back hair each couple of months or you get split ends and thats basically nasty. The key terms are "i choose to maintain the size", I say this everytime and that i've got not at all had my hair cut back shorter than i needed it. Have a communicate with the hair textile cabinet befr and ask them what they think of might seem solid, afterall that's what you're paying them for :)

If you have a printer, find a style that you like on the net, then print it out and take it to your barber. That'll make it easier for them to understand exactly what you want. Be sure to stress to them that you don't want a whole lot taken off.
