What a great quote, I would say it is true and that it holds for a couple of different meanings.

It can mean not to get complacent and to keep doing the same good hardworking job that you have always done to remain on top.

It can also be used as a corollary to the saying, "the definition of insanity is to keep doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result"

in some aspects yes in others no, after repeating some things you finally succeed, as with trying to feed a newborn green beans and they dont like it, you keep on doing what you have been doing and then they will take it, the other side to this is obvious to me, b/c a lot of the time you dont get new results

OMG! my manager uses that quote all the time to try and get us to sell something in a diffrent way. along with the phrases 'retail is detail' and 'how good is that?'
