"They" say that if you know how to speak Spanish, it's easier to learn Japanese. I don't know any Japanese, but I've been thinking about doing so. Anyways, I know this isn't very good inform, but maybe if learning Japanese gets too hard, you could learn Spanish 1st, then Japanese. Spanish isn't all that hard once you learn the pronunciation. The grammer's pretty easy. Sometimes you just have ta be patient and learn one thing at a time. I've found it helps if you 1st learn a song you like that's in Japanese real well, to where you don't have to think of it to sing it, one that involves lots o' normal everyday words. Hehe, once you learn it, you can run around singing it all day and it's the most fun ever! Anyways, good luck! =}

Well, if you are serious about it you can look for a course in Japan. Many Japanese universities accept interchange students for learning Japanese at their university, which what i did. I guarantee you you will be fluent after the course which is usually a year or a year and a half. It is so good that right now is my third month of having started the course and it is enough to take Chemistry, Math, and Physics in Japanese.

good luck and i hope you enjoy.

Very difficult language. Remember that words in Japanese are like one-syllable. If you watch Japanese TV, particularly the news, it is all spoken very, very fast.

Romaji- when Japanese words are written in English, is kinda weird and a flawed method, but once you figure out the key to pronounciation, it becomes fairly easy. The most difficult part is grammar, as always.

here is lesson #1:
grammatical order...
Japanese is one of the easiest language.. (with the exception of the Kanji. But, we have chinese language to top that).
They are very lenient toward grammatical order. (sometimes they eliminate the S and shorten everything).

I can't help you with vocabulary.. you have to learn them yourself by memorization.

Easy stuff here:
Subject + ha (pronounced 'wa')+ Object + wo (pronounces 'o') + Verb+ Masu (you can say 'masu' or just end it with 'mas')

So.. let say you want to say: I am eating tempura.
so in english it would be: I + ha+ tempura + wo + eat + masu.

in japanese: Watashi ha tenpura wo tabemasu.

If you want to make it a negative sentence: change masu into masen.
I am NOT eating tempura = Watashi ha tenpura wo tabeMASEN.

If you want to make it into past tense: change masu into mashita.
I ate tempura = Watashi ha tenpura wo tabeMASHITA.

ok? that's the first lesson for you.

Ganbatte ne (Keep your chin up! -colloquial for work harder)

Just hope. Soon enough you'll learn Japenese. And if you can't possibly learn, then apperently you're not the kind of person who needs to know Japenese. Sorry about that!
