A lot of shelters have 16 as a cut-off age, but there are some that do have kids programs, especially in the summer. You could also see if you could go with an adult, some let kids walk dogs with adult supervision.

Check www.petfinder.com. Do a shelter search by "dog" and your zip code. A list of places near you will come up. Give them a call and see what they say. Good luck, you're interested in doing a wonderful thing!

ok, first of all i'd favor to say THANK-YOU! this style of large style of dogs obtainable favor houses and atleast your prepared! I have had safeguard dogs for ALL of my life, actually considering I actually were 5 months previous I have had a dogs and purely one considering then has been shop bought. The dogs will more suitable than in all likelihood be skittish of the youngsters if their loud, and hyper lively. With the right preparation, even if, the dogs will come across a thanks to tolerate and be superb friends which includes your little ones. Have persistence with the recent addition because they could were damage undesirable interior the previous, yet that would not advise you cuddle and convenience all of it the time. no count what, all they prefer is love and they are going to truly do something for it. about the pup or older dogs question, i'd advise a older dogs because they have calmed down slightly and characteristic a more suitable useful interest span, which could help in traing. pup's are difficult and with such yound little ones do you somewhat favor yet another one? because it really is what is going to take position, you are able to have yet another toddler. An older dogs is my wager, yet in case you favor to take the pup on (that is not not plausible) then bypass ahead! i am hoping this helps :) and sturdy success :)

I'm going to say right now, without specific knowledge of shelters in Georgia, that 11 is going to be too young to volunteer alone. A parent or gaurdian will need to be present.

I don't think 11 is all THAT young. She (he?) will definantly need to work along with someone else, but probably not a parent. I don't know much about dog shelters, but I work at a cat shelter. I don't know...
