I am thinking of getting a kitten and i am not sure if we need to get it fixed. I know that that is always the right thing but it will be an inside kitty and there is pretty much no chance of kittens...What do you thing is the best for everyone?

I would have her spayed. Animals get strange when they arent. Also... you'll have to put a diaper on her when she is in heat.

Get her spayed! It is better for her health too, especially if there's no chance of kittens. Not to mention that a cat in heat is pretty gross and even annoying.

If you get a cat or kitten from a shelter, it may already be spayed or neutered, or some shelters will at least pay for it if it hasn't been already. It's better for everyone to have it done, plus you could be saving an animals life if you get it from a shelter.

Not an option. get it fixed! Adopt one from a shelter. Doesn't matter if it is kept indoors. It is better for the cat. If you decide on a kitten. Always get two. They will play with each other. Less wear and tear on you. Me, I would adopt an older cat. Kittens are cute, but cause a lot of scrathes climbing your body.

If you get a male cat and not have him castrated, he will spray urine on your belongings such as furniture. The smell will be more than you can tolerate. He will also try to slip out of the house.

If you get a female cat and not have her spayed, she will yowl and scream when she is in heat and try to get out of the house at every opportunity. Sooner or later, she will probably slip out and come home pregnant, if she comes home at all since odds are she will be injured.

It's more humane and sensible to have your cat neutered because there are too many unwanted kittens already.

If it's pure-bred, you probably don't want to spay or neuter it, but with inside cats, there is no actual need. Unless you're eventually going to dump it on the streets, in which case--DO fix it, for everyone's sake.
Since ours are all indooor pets. we have generally left that till either their health or their manners required such a stringent solution. It won't hurt them to grow up reproductively functional, and you can always fix them later in life. Just remember that you can spay or neuter at any stage of life, but once it's done, there's no way to undo it.

Before you get a pet you should realize that cats can live for twenty years. You should definitely get your cat spayed at six months of age. You can't expect a cat not to escape and the howling while she's in heat is horrible. If you get a male - they spray strong urine on everything if not fixed. Please consider what you are doing before you do the wrong thing.

I would get it fixed Becasue even though he won't be able to have any females , if its a male, he'll still go out and look for females and he'll be very mean at times. If your getting a female, get her fixed if you don't want kittys. Becasue there scent of blood travles and other male cats will come from a mile away and try to get her. Not to mention the blood on your carpet.
good luck

Well there are other reasons to spay your cat. One of those is that many animals can get cervical or uterine cancer if they arent spayed. What if the cat sneaks out the door accidently one day? If you are planning to get a female she could get out and get impregnated by another cat. For male cats they do spray furniture and even walls if they arent neutered because of the hormones in their bodies make them want to make their territory. My idea on the whole thing is that if you arent going to breed your animal there is no reason to not get it fixed.

Unless you plan on breeding, always get an indoor cat fixed; they make much better pets.

A Female cat that is not fixed, will drive you crazy when she goes in heat, and a male cat that is not fixed will mark his territory by spraying (peeing on) you furniture, walls, and any where else he wants.

When cats are fixed, their urine doesn't smell as strong either (especially male cats).

Get the kitten fixed. If it's a female, she won't be made miserable by being in heat. And if it's a male, it will keep him from marking territory.
