There is no set rule and most people hang mirrors too high. The best way to tell what is right for your application is to get help. Find someone to hold the mirror up on the wall, turn on the light and watch the height where it reflects the light you want to see. Mark the spot on the wall and hang. Use mollies or anchors if you are not going through a stud. Love the use of mirrors to double light!

Well it depends on the size and dimensions of the mirror. In my Dinning room I have a rectangular Mirror that is About a foot from the ceiling and 4 feet from the ground but I have a buffet table under it that is about 3 ft tall. -- hope this helps!

I WOULD HANG MY MIRROR SO THAT WHEN I LOOKED INTO IT I WOULD BE ABLE TO SEE MYSELF LIKE IN A PHOTO. NOT TOO HIGH, YOU DON'T WANT TO LOOK UP INTO THE MIRROR. DEPENDING ON HOW HIGH UP THE LIGHT IS, THE MIRROR MAY NOT BE IN A POSITION TO REFLECT THE LIGHT. I WOULD BE MORE CONCERNED WITH HOW EVERYTHING ELSE LOOKED IN THE MIRROR AT EYE LEVEL.

Measure from the floor to your eyes.
have someone you trust to hold the center of the mirror at your Eye level then adjust to perfection.
