I can't tell you which one is great, but I can tell you which one you might want to avoid. We purchased a 2006 Isuzu Ascender (5-passenger SUV) in late January. It's a decent enough vehicle and a nice ride but it *is* a bit hard on the gas expense in the city. Highway mileage isn't too bad, though.

I can also tell you that there are a ton of sensors in the Ascender which increases the possibility for malfunctions. We've already endured one of those, as a matter of fact, and it took three trips to the dealership to get the darned thing straightened out. The thing's under warranty, of course, but who wants to have to utilize that within the first 60 days of owning a vehicle?

In hindsight I wish we'd purchased something else, but I'll live with it for now.

Toyota Matrix, a great gas mileage well built suv, or Pontiac Vibe, made by Toyota for Pontiac. Both are really nice vehicles.
I sell another brand, but think these are the best on the market.

If you are worried about gas prices, then you shouldn't be looking at an SUV. Just wait till you see the extra costs for parts, maintenance, and insurance. Don't fall for the MPG on the stickers either. My V6 Toyota actually gets worse highway mileage than my 5.3 litre Tahoe.

There are some causes you ought to. for example if you're a contractor and favor to haul alot of stuff to and from a jobsite. once you've a deliver or trailer you'll favor the towing ability those autos provide. once you've horses, for example, you'll favor to tow a horse trailer and also you're literally unlikely to attempt this with something yet an total length pickup. That being reported, maximum of those are literally not pushed sensibly and are used for commuting or driving round city a large part of their miles, and thats in simple terms stupid. notwithstanding it made ideal experience to finish that considering gas has been rediculasly less expensive for see you later. you ought to no longer keep sufficient on gas to justify possessing a 2d motorcar. It became more cost-effective to easily burn the gas. At 4$/gal the maths is taking off to regulate. if youpersistent an time-honored automobile and get 20mpg you'll spend about $3000/12 months on gas if youpersistent 15000 miles a 12 months (the nationwide time-honored). Thats $250/month. if youpersistent a monster truck, you ought to get 10mpg, and spend $500/month on gas. if youpersistent something like a prius, you are able to decrease that to $one hundred/month or so. for most married households like ours. One small effective automobile, and one truck is the answer. the automobile receives maximum folk of the miles, and the truck receives pushed in basic terms some thousand miles a 12 months. because this is pushed little or no, the MPG the truck receives infrequently concerns. notwithstanding the MPG argument is seen, evaluate that lots of the most offensive SUV's were very very expensive. Many 50K or extra! those are tormented by the shortcoming of credit, in simple terms because the McMansion colapse is. human beings in simple terms won't be able to borrow that style of money anymore. some human beings will nevertheless purchase those for his or her obvious software, notwithstanding it's going to be those who will use them, no longer those who in simple terms desire the biggest baddest difficulty on the line.

depends on your purpose..recreational suv? traveling with many passengers? small economy suv? towing capabilities? luxury? etc.. what I suggest because i like them for the price and new body styling are the Chevy Avalanche 07..a pick up truck and suv infused as one.also has a "Flex Fuel" engine..4 cylinders work for rural driving, and 8 when needed for extra power..nothing can beat that..but you can afford it, i'd rather get the escalade truck IMO.
