A guy friend of my sisters gave me a yorkie about 6yrs ago..He gave me her papers but we never took the dog out of his name an put it in mines..I know what a krazy thing too do but at the time i didn't think about all the problems that could have occured..Now that i'm older i ws thinking about breeding her. Well the problem is i lost her papers due to hurrican katrina..I have called an tried to contact him..But he has gotten married an the wife of course had a problem with me contacting him...She said she would give him the message but i never heard anything back..I'm lost an have no idea of how to get a copy of her birth certificate..If i used a dog that has papers to breed her with would i be able to register the litter??? And is there any hope of getting my baby papers back???

For the papers, you just need to keep after him and hope he still has them.
The dog is at least 6 years old, that is really getting to be too old for a first litter.

Three things:
1. 6 years old is a bit old for a female to be having her first litter. Toy breeds have so many complications during whelping as it is, do you really want to make things harder on your baby by breeding her for the first time at that age?
2. Even if you bred her to a male with "papers", if you don't have your b*tch's registration information, and especially if she's not in your name, you won't be able to register the litter.
3. Because you do not technically own the dog (according to AKC records), you will not be able to get a new copy of her registration from them. Your only chance of getting her transferred into your name is to find the certificate, or possibly have the old owner request another copy and then sign the dog over to you.
Now, back to the breeding. Again, this is a serious thing that should not be taken lightly. If you honestly want to breed your female, please check out these links before you proceed:

ADDED: The dog is yours and nobody is going to try to take her away from you -- certainly not the guy who gave her to you, since he doesn't seem to be interested at all. The only thing the papers will "prove" is that you are her owner -- don't know if anyone is going to dispute that!
If you are just going to spay her and love her (which I heartily recommend), there's really no need to bother with papers, IMO.

Personally I would not be worrying about finding the papers that specify that your dog is pure bred. It is a little too late to be breeding a dog that is the age that you are specifying. If you really wanted to breed the dog it should have been done between 1 and 2 years old, since this is the time that they are most fertile. Keep looking for the papers but I wouldn't suggest breeding this late in the dogs life.

About the breeding, WHY? Are you not aware that there are 15 dogs born for every 1 human? Are you not aware that MILLIONS of dogs are killed ever year in shelters because there are not enough homes to go around? Are you not aware of the fact that only 1 dog in 10 gets a permanent home? Are you aware that 1 female dog and her offspring can produce 67,000 dog in just 6 years? Why would you want to contribute to the gross pet overpopulation problem?

Why do you even want to bred her? Do her a favor and get her spayed instead. There are to many dogs dieing now from the lack of homes. Don't ad to the problem. Female dogs that are not spayed can develop all sorts of problems. Are you prepared for paying the vet bill if she does? If you want more adopt one.

you cannot register the litter if either of them are not papered,
so if you can't get your dogs papers you can't register them.
