According to one of the most visited beer enthusiast websites on the web, beeradvocate.com, Westvleteren 12 (Yellow Cap), made by Trappist monks in Belgium is the best in the world. I've included their ranking of the Top 100 beers. I've had only one off of this list, Arrogant Bastard Ale, and I can say it's one of the best I've ever had.

I used to be a professional food and beverage consultant (now retired) and had several breweries as clients and other brewery owners and managers as friends. Uniformly, all would say that the best beer of all is the freshest beer you can get of the beer style you enjoy most.

I feel that it is unfair to all great beers to answer your question.

Becks Dark is great with steak.
Corona goes down nice on a hot day.
Sam Adams Winter Lager is a nice fireside beer.
Saranac Black and Tan is a good after diner beer.

I could keep going....

Karl Strauss Red Trolley Ale. It's worth a trip to San Diego just to get it fresh from the tap.

Ever tried Prestige? It's made in Haiti, very good beer. I I think you can get it in Miami now, check the website.

I love Fat Tire by New Belgium brewrey in Colorado. Tasty, Tasty, Tasty.... it's not sold past the midwest though (not on East Coast). If you get to Denver though, ask for one. You won't be sorry! Also, try Sawtooth by Lefthand brewrey - also great Colorado brew.
