Look at your local pet shelters. There are many unwanted cats and kittens there that could really use a home. If a cat is there long enough, many times they are put to sleep, so do a good thing and get one from a shelter. They are not always free - sometimes there is a fee to help the shelter maintain its facilities and to cover the cat/kitten's shots. Remember, not all things that are "free" are good. I would rather shell out $30-$40 for a healthy cat than get a free sick cat.

Good luck!

why do you need a kitten asap? getting a pet isn't something that you wake up and say i need it right now. take time to think if you can actually care for the animal, emotionally and financially especially with a kitten it's not cheap to start out I've spent $100 on her in just the 3 weeks I've had her at the vet alone and I still need to spay her as well as a front paw declaw, also you need to have to things for the kitten before you bring it home...food, dishes, litter, litter box, place to sleep, etc.

No kittens are free. They need shots, spaying/neutering, food, time, love, toys, medicine, and then they will wreck all your stuff. (Trust me on this one)
