Not all of them - that's just a silly generalisation. But certainly, Christianity has hampered the human race's scientific progress on numerous occasions. This includes insisting that the earth was flat, and killing anyone who thought otherwise (there's a famous quote by, I think, Magellan, to this effect). Galileo is a another great example. And let's not forget that Bush is seriously hurting America's stem-cell research!

Not necessarily christians only - ANY belief that stops forward movement - from scientology to wicca to judaism, etc. ANY type of theology slows progress and understanding.

the ones i know do.....closed mindedness slows progress and understanding! some people never achieve REAL knowledge...although they think they do by reading one book and never exploring the OTHER knowledge that is waitng for them. And there are followers who cannot think for themselves so they have to follow something......why not the bible thumping idiot who will soon turn out to be the THING that he preaches against.

Today...yes!...by fighting every inch of the way to deny every new scietific breakthrough or new evidence that doesn't support their silly book they hold us all back...they waste time and resources making us try to explain things to them again and again when they have no intention of listening to anything except their silly book..the silly fake book is backward and they want to take the world backward to primitive nomadic conditions ... so Yes! Yes! & Yes!

Yes. Just look at the history of the christian church vs science.
