I think for a lot of people cats are just too independent. Dogs are pack animals and look at their owners as the alpha dog. (In other words dogs are suck ups while cats are not) Cats are individual animals and are not constantly needing your attention. Which gives people (people who obviously never lived with a cat) the impression that they are not friendly or affectionate.
I personally love both cats and dogs. Both have great qualities.

You do not have a clue what you are talking about. I have seen cats smarter than a lot of dogs (and you of course). They play all the time, and they can be taught tricks. You just have to be smart enough to teach them. Also you are a sick f*ck if you use felines as target practice. BBguns can kill them just as easily. You really should go to jail for animal cruelty. How about I use you as target practice you f*cking bastard!

Personally, I like cats a lot. I've only ever heard two reasons for not liking them that I could get behind even a little.
1) Allergies - if someone has a severe allergy, I could understand if they're not fond of cats.
2)Reason given by a guy I knew once - he said that he didn't like cats because if they were bigger...they would eat you. Darned if they wouldn't too!

My cats play with me all the time. They're called "cat toys"....
My cats come when called, they respond to "No".
Some people hate cats because the cats are smarter than they are....

I love cats, but my hubby doesn't... he says they are lazy & worthless.
He use to lay on the floor & play injured to see which of our pets would help him. Our Husky would always run over and try to save him... our cat would look at him unamused and then turn away.
Of course, I joined the cat... LOL!

why do you hate cats? I was never a cat person till i got one and now I love them. he doesn't bite or sctrach and he sleeps on my head at night. he greets me at the door and meows when i get home from work.

They have no respect, don't listen to you for sh*t. you can't play with them. You can't teach them any tricks. You cant take them with you camping or hunting. They fight in the middle of the night and wake you up with their screams. Plus they look like demons when they are soaken wet. The only thing they are good for is Target Practice (don't worry, i use my BB gun, I don't kill them)
