I'm not offended by either. Everyone has a right to their own beliefs. Maybe it's because everyone thinks that they are right. They don't like someone questioning them with different beliefs. Maybe they feel threatened.

I'm not offended by a person being either religious or atheists, but it's their conduct that can offend me. I love insightful comments as well as sincere questions, especially those that make me think about my responses. What I don't like is when someone lumps everyone in one category into thinking the same way or blames everyone for the faults of a few in that category.

If people use their brains for just a minute they would realize that you cannot lump 100% of a group of people the same way. Perhaps a significant amount of people, but not everyone.

As a Christian, that is what Jesus taught me. He looks at the heart and the intentions of the person, instead of lumping a person into a nice neat category. That's why I believe that God loves diversty.

Religious people think atheists are evil. And atheists think religious people are psycho.

It is pretty much just a matter of ignorance. For the most part, educated people don't really concern themselves one way or the other.

This is why education is so important in any society. The more people understand religions (all of them), the more they are able to tolerate and respect others.

Most people today belong to a religion because their families belonged to that religion, not because they chose it. So we have a lot of unanswered questions in our head. In stead of finding answers for those questions, we end up choosing the easy way: supressing our suspicions and uncertainities.

So when two people with opposite ideas come across, they are reminded of the feelings and questions they had supressed. That is not pleasant. So I will try to avoid the others, and they better stay away from me...

That is just my 2 cents on the topic.

Becuase the idea that there is not one definite answer will cause people with a weak faith to question if theirs is the right one.

Because religious fanatics are actively looking for 'the end of the world'. SOUNDS KIND OF DANGEROUS IF YOU ASK ME.
