Find a BMI calculator online (I would recommend searching Google for one). The calculator will tell you if you are overweight, obese, underweight, ect. Keep in mind that you cannot alone judge your body on the result, bone mass and muscle mass also play a key role... You might want to consider having a professional (a dietitian or a personal trainer) test your body fat levels - then you will know exactly what percentage of fat your body is made up of.

Height charts a pretty good indicator as long as they include the fact that there are different body types/bone structures. Also, height charts don't take into account how much muscle you actually have....so the height chart may say that you're overweight, but remember muscle weighs more than fat does so the chart may not be 100% accurate for you.

Do you feel fat? Do you constantly feel tired during the day, you have no energy? Do you get winded going up a flight of stairs? Try not to focus on pounds so much as being healthy. Change your eating habits and increase your excerise.

you may want to know what your current BMI and check if your in the acceptable range...if you are panting after taking a few steps...then you might think of doing something...now.

you know you are overweight when you cannot touch you knee when bend down.
you know you are overweight when you get laughed when you're wearing tight shirts.
