But I don't know where to start. How should I treat a transgender woman, are they just like biological women or do they think more like men?

A transwoman wants to be treated as any other woman. We just happen to have been born with a birth defect.

Men who want to be treated as women but only from time to time fit different categories, either transvestites (gay drag queens) or cross dressers (hetrosexual men).

I'm not a woman, but I thought I'd post because I understand a bit where you're coming from. My wife went back to graduate school, the classwork is hard, and especially around exam time she has study groups or guys calling, or her calling guys. It's a bit easier in that her field isn't male-dominated, but still - it can seem weird getting a call from some guy you don't know asking for your wife. It comes down to trusting or not and whether your trust is warranted or not. I think it's natural that he would talk to his classmates on the phone sometimes about school stuff. I think it's natural that sometimes there would be some socializing, though I'd expect you to be included. A lot of purely social calls and texting would bother me as well. You say it's not often, so it seems like a judgment call - do you trust him or not. It's also a judgment call whether you want to draw a boundary here about how much socializing with other women is OK in your relationship. All relationships involve some sacrifice, and I don't think most of us would mind sacrificing texting other women when we're engaged/married. It just shouldn't be because you don't trust him, but because you feel it's inappropriate.

I can't speak on the psychological aspects of transgendered women, but I think a good place to start out would be craigslist. You can post not only adverts but also questions about transgendered women as well.
