Many have. Many have fought and bled for the ideal that this country is. Their sacrifice has purchased the right of people in this forum to say , "No, this country sucks!"

So, yes, even for the ingrate in here who hates his/her country, and doesn't deserve the freedom of speech to say what they say in here, I would (and have) served my country, and would die, or be tortured, in its defense.

In my own case, I won't count the mock torture I went through (as terrible as that was) and thus insult my brothers and sisters who did truly suffer at the hands of truly evil people who didn't care about the law of war.

My question to those who hate their country, yet use their freedom to indulge in the most vile and vehement anti-American rhetoric they can imagine, is this: "Why do you live here if you hate it so much? Do you think you could get by with that kind of language in most countries?"

You have no idea how blessed you are to live here.

I would die for a cause I believe in. One cause I happen to believe in is the promise of America.

The foundations of this country are so important to the world (I'm not talking about what the religious right calls the foundations of America - it was founded on personal freedom and democracy - the founding fathers worked hard to ensure that religion was left up to the individual, not the government).

So, yes. I would die for my country because I believe in what it can become; not in what it presently is.

No. Perhaps for other people (as in having to be tortured so others could escape the same fate) but not to prove my love for my country.

It depends, if such an action on my part would gain something or preserve the US, absolutely. Just to die for no real reason but to say
yeah I died for my country is stupid

I would die for my family or especially my boyfriend because i know they would for me, but George W. Bush wouldn't be willing to die for me,so i'm not willing to give my life for him.

HAHAHAHA. Don't make me laugh.

Now, are you talking about my family or neighbors, or the business interests of the ruling elite? If someone tried to attack my family and neighbors I'll fight to the death but I'll be damned if I'm going to go fight to raise stock prices.

Sure. But I would try like hell to stay alive and/or take a few of the others with me.
