It's better to tell the truth and be honest when it comes to your child.
Tell him what really happened. Do not allow him to take sides. Make him his own advocate.
Children remember. As they grow up, they will find out things that you were not aware of in the beginning. You don't want to create regrets.
Your child will not only love you, but he/she will respect you until the day you die.
Your honesty will go a long long way.

Tell her the truth...Why lie to your child....If you want to raise your child in a fantasy world then go ahead...but telling your child the truth prepares them for the "Real" world where everything isnt perfect....if you lie to your child all the time they take it harder when they finally find out the truth. They will become emotionally unstable if you do that. Tell her whats going on in the best way possible but above all just be honest...is that so hard.

Tell the child the truth. Don't start a relationship with your kid on a lie. they will understand it. Just be honest. If Dad was just a sperm donor tell them. If dad hung around for a while and then ran like a scalded ape tell them. If Dad was a worthless loser that abandoned his responsibilities tell them. Honest is the best policy, always.

Depending on your childs age be as honest as you can. I have a four year old daughter who has a worthless piece of **** for a father. He hasn't seen her since she was four months old. My current boyfriend, and father of my son, is who she calls daddy. But she knows who her real father is, by seeing pictures. She can see him and say 'thats my dad'. She knows she has a sister and two other brothers. Shes to young to understand any of it, but I want to be totally honest with her. If you have any other questions feel free to email me.

There is no daddy
There is no Santa Claus
There is no tooth fairy, easter bunny, or anything else like that so get over it!!! lol
I'm just messing with you.
I would just tell the child that he doesn't live with you b/c he's sick. Anything else would hurt their feelings. If you tell them he's at work, then if you say your going to work the kid may think your never coming back too.

I told my kids that he somewhere else and missing all the fun. Show them that it is his loss and not their fault. Don't lie because that makes kids worry about what else you might have lied about. give them as few details as they will accept, and offer to answer any more questions but don't give a long involved speech. I wanted to tell mine that he was a lying sack of **** , but they got in contact with him when they were older and wound up telling me.

well it depends on where he really is ...the truth would probably be best..even if the child is too young to understand in a couple of years it will be easier for them if they know from the beginning

I was a single mom and he didn't see his dad until recently but when he asked I kind of side stepped the question and said that you have me and I love you very much.

it depends on the age of the child. if the child was older, i may be honest, but if the child is young, i'd maybe say something like, "he's on a vacation..."
