Consider the difficulties with trying to make a round box....and to fill a square box with a square pizza would cost the vendor almost twice as much...(food for thought?)

Because round boxes would be much harder to make and would thus cost more. Quite a few of the products we currently use have shapes dictated by ease of manufacture. Consider also the square jackets for records and square CD cases (although those also serve the function of preventing our music from rolling away if we store them on edge). Squares and rectangles are much easier to make than circles.
